Lynchburg officials will sell the vacant city building at 1517 Jackson St to Lynchburg Services LLC for conversion into a daycare center, pending council approval Tuesday.

The project will serve up to 150 children, create 30 jobs, begin design work in early 2026, and finish construction by late summer - early fall.

Appomattox County school district expanded in-school mental health services after a bus crash in early November highlighted students' need for support. $312,000 from the Virginia Health Care Foundation now helps provide licensed counselors at four campuses for about 2,375 students (grant funding continues through 2026).
