  • Nelson Recovery Court celebrated its fifth graduate, marking a milestone for its recovery initiative in Lynchburg. The program continues offering support to participants as they work towards rebuilding their lives.  The News & Advance
  • Lynchburg resident Mildred Tucker (84) is back home after being rescued from a December house fire and airlifted for treatment; on Friday, local firefighters visited her and presented a challenge coin, patch and ornament during an emotional reunion.  WSET

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance’s Barry Butler expects the new governor to support local energy and business growth by building on Youngkin’s achievements and will attend the inauguration ceremony today to see policies boost jobs in the region.  WSET

EDUCATION NEWS

  • E.C. Glass High School will use walk-through metal detectors beginning Tuesday, Jan. 20 to boost safety, with students and visitors screened at door 27 using designated lanes for instruments and sports equipment; those refusing screening will be denied entry (for details, contact Principal Dani Rule).  WSET
