  • The Tough Cookie Race raised funds for Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline in Lynchburg on Feb. 4 as local runners boosted support for youth programs in the community.  WDBJ7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lynchburg City Schools students are returning to class today after 8 days of snow closures with a two-hour delay while some roads remain unsafe, and the district thanked families + staff for their patience.  WSET

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials will hold a meeting Saturday at 11 a.m. at White Rock Baptist Church to share next steps in turning the former White Rock Elementary School into a community center — the process includes nominating the building for historic registers to secure tax credits and expand the project budget.  Cardinal News
  • In Lynchburg, GLTC is planning to suspend Sunday bus service due to a shortage of eight drivers that affects over 800 riders; a decision will be made in early March and customers may attend a public comment meeting on Feb. 7 (10 a.m. to noon) to share views.  WSET
