  • YMCA of Central Virginia in Lynchburg will use a $1.4 million federal grant for upgrades that include a new elevator, wider hallways, and ramps to boost accessibility. The facility, which will celebrate its 170th anniversary in June, is the first YMCA in Virginia to secure federal funds.  WSET
  • Lynchburg Humane Society saved 93% of pets admitted last year thanks to modern programs and community partnerships that keep animals safe—innovative efforts like the Petcation Program and cat yoga set a model for other shelters like Danville's.  Cardinal News
