ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy’s survey showed that average gasoline prices in Virginia fell by 2.1 cents per gallon to $2.82 on Monday — prices remain 5.9 cents higher than last month and 20.6 cents lower than a year ago.  WSET

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Virginia University of Lynchburg is requesting $2 million in state funding as it seeks support for its education programs, marking the institution's first effort to obtain public aid. The report comes from WSET-TV.  Cardinal News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Virginia Department of Social Services announced a planned EBT service outage from 11 p.m. today until 7 a.m. tomorrow, during which EBT transactions will be unavailable. Officials expect services to resume immediately after maintenance.  WSLS 10

  • After 30 years as the Lynchburg Hillcats, the minor league baseball team rebranded last week as the Hill City Howlers. The team revealed new logos with stories that explain the change and honor local heritage.  The News & Advance
