- ➤ Lynchburg Fire Station 2 will soon host a Safe Haven Baby Box that offers a secure, anonymous drop-off for newborns in need. Funded mostly by a private donor, the initiative—spearheaded by former Chief Greg Wormser—will be installed in the next 6-8 weeks. WSET

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, Virginia's average gasoline price was $2.83 per gallon—a rise of 0.9 cents from the previous week—based on GasBuddy survey data from 4,081 stations. Prices remain 2.4 cents lower than last month and 14.1 cents below last year's level. WSET
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Colleges in the area are making changes to address financial issues; Averett is cutting majors and selling property while Randolph and Virginia University of Lynchburg are adding programs and seeking state funding to keep good academics and local jobs. - ➤ University of Lynchburg launched its first PhD program, the online Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies, with applications open since Feb. 19.
