  • A Korean War soldier missing for over 75 years was laid to rest near his longtime home in Lynchburg on Monday, Mar. 9. The burial ceremony honored his service and marked a long-awaited moment for local families.  WDBJ7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Last weekend, Dr. Hickman from Old City Cemetery took two daffodil flowers from Lynchburg to California for the Livermore Daffodil Festival where they earned blue ribbons. Executive director Jay White noted the win honors the cemetery’s annual planting of over 400 bulbs symbolizing hope.  WSET

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA said local drivers might soon see higher gas prices as global crude costs surged from $67 to $103—caused by a conflict that restricts oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. The change directly influences the pump prices in our area.  WSET

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Virginia Department of Emergency Management kicks off Severe Weather Awareness Week March 9–13 with a statewide tornado drill set for today at 9:45 a.m. Families, schools and businesses are urged to check weather radios and practice emergency plans before severe storms hit.  WSLS 10

  • Lishy’s Gift honored a young leukemia patient by delivering comfort bags and survivorship support in Lynchburg. The initiative, announced on Monday, Mar. 9, aims to lift families facing treatment challenges (showing strong community care).  WDBJ7
