- ➤ A local mom met with firefighters—MFF Ricky Davis and FFs Nick Taylor, Jerome Johnson, Brian Reusser and Luke Jennings—on Monday at about 1 p.m. to thank them after they saved her infant from choking last week. WSLS 10
- ➤ The Global War on Terror Memorial has returned to Monument Terrace in Lynchburg to display over 7,000 dog tags honoring fallen heroes and 50 gold stars for their families. The memorial will be here until March 28—next it will be in Blackstone on May 1. WSET

- ➤ Two people died in a single-vehicle crash near milepost 11 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Nelson County on Sunday—Troy and Cheryl Hagwood were the victims when their car struck a tree and caught fire. WSLS 10
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Brookville High School is receiving major renovations that add new security measures like cameras, doors, and badge readers while updating classrooms and converting the old gym into a cafeteria with skylights. Campbell County school officials toured the progress recently — construction is set to finish by mid-2026 even as classes continue on site. WSLS 10
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Lynchburg City Council will review a fiscal budget proposal that will raise water, sewer and stormwater management bills by increasing customer rates. A work session begins at 4 p.m. at City Hall followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. — if approved, the new fiscal year on July 1 will mark the changes. Cardinal News
- ➤ On Sunday, March 23rd, protesters gathered in front of the USPS building in Lynchburg to oppose plans that could privatize the postal service and risk 640000 jobs. Paula Johnson, the local branch president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, said the change would limit service to only profitable areas. WSET
- ➤ Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed bills into law on Friday to ban seven artificial food dyes from school meals, earning praise from U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The law will take effect July 1, 2027 — a move aimed at improving school food safety. The News & Advance
