- ➤ The Lynchburg Humane Society received a $50,000 Rachael Ray Save Them All grant from Best Friends Animal Society for its Transfer to Happiness program that helps save at-risk pets in Virginia. The grant will support the society’s efforts to improve local animal welfare. The News & Advance
- ➤ Over 200 bikers gathered in Lynchburg at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to ride from the city to Lotz Funeral Home in memory of 10-year-old Autumn Bushman, who loved her father's motorcycle. The group also collected donations—helping the family honor her memory. WSLS 10

- ➤ Police said a man sustained life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash on Fort Avenue and Long Meadows Drive around 3:53 p.m.—he was taken first to Lynchburg General Hospital then transferred to UVA Hospital as investigators continue to look into the crash. WSLS 10

- ➤ Amherst County deputies searched Saturday evening near Arbor Ct.-apartments on Route 163 for a toddler seen alone on a roadway, described as a 2-year-old Black boy in a green t-shirt, and ask anyone with information to call 434-946-9300. WFXR TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bedford County Board of Supervisors voted not to renew its nearly $100,000 membership with the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance—ending the contract when the new fiscal year starts July 1 as county leaders question the return on investment. The News & Advance
- ➤ Lynchburg City Council approved a 750-unit housing development in Ward I that may force the city to shift funds from other projects to upgrade Wiggington Road due to increased traffic from the development. Deputy City Manager Greg Patrick explained at a work session on March 25 that the estimated $3.78 million cost—with potential financing bringing the total to $6 million over 20 years—has sparked local concern over the city’s capital improvement plans.
