- ➤ Nautical Bowls in Lynchburg is hosting its 2nd annual 6K Walk for Water on April 26th at 10 a.m. to raise awareness and help provide clean water; every registration guarantees clean water for life through World Vision. WSET
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday at about 2:45 p.m., Virginia State Police Med-Flight 1 and Rockbridge Fire and EMS rescued an injured teen hiker from Devil's Marble Yard in Rockbridge County and transported her, a Richmond-area resident, to a hospital in Central Virginia after her condition was deemed stable. - ➤ A Lynchburg home on the 100 block of Warren Avenue was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning—firefighters rescued two people with severe injuries who were flown to specialized care while three residents and one firefighter received treatment for less serious burns. WDBJ7
- ➤ A house fire injured five residents and one firefighter in Lynchburg on Wednesday morning, and two people were airlifted to regional hospitals. The News & Advance

- ➤ At a Bedford County murder trial, a neighbor said a bench disappeared from her patio on the night Katlyn Montgomery was killed in 2022, while witnesses saw Trenton Frye near her apartment and an investigator said Frye admitted he blacked out and did not remember if he hurt her—trial proceedings are expected to finish today. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A joint city council and school board committee is meeting today at 5 p.m. in City Hall’s second-floor training room at 900 Church St. to deliberate the plan to convert T.C. Miller into a pre-kindergarten school and review additional recommendations on school infrastructure and funding; some Lynchburg parents raised concerns at Tuesday's meeting, and a public hearing will be held on April 8 to further discuss the proposal. - ➤ Lynchburg City Schools has narrowed its superintendent search to six finalists (from 27 applicants) after reviewing all candidates and requesting each finalist submit a video answering follow-up questions (as part of the selection process), and the school board will vote on a new educator later this month. - ➤ Today through April 14, Jackson Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Street is closed on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. due to a crane operation at 901 Fifth Street — motorists including emergency vehicles must follow a detour and pedestrians need to use alternate routes.
