- ➤ Bedford County prosecutors rested their case on Wednesday against North Carolina man Trenton David Mills Frye in a trial for the strangulation death of his ex-girlfriend Katlyn Montgomery at her Forest apartment on Oct. 7—law enforcement testimony tied his phone records and inconsistent statements to the scene, though his attorney insists no clear connection was established. - ➤ Lynchburg Police arrested 23-year-old Endia Walker on charges of Labor Endangerment—Cruelty or Injuries to Children, Attempted Labor Endangerment—Cruelty or Injuries to Children and Family Offense—Child Abuse and Neglect resulting in Serious Injury after officers found her infant on March 26 in the 600 block of Leesville Road, though no details about the official cause of death have been released. - ➤ Residents on Wiggington Road have been divided over rising traffic from a water and sewer project that started on March 31 on Peace Street near the Route 501/221 intersection and fear a future 750-unit development will worsen congestion. Officials halted the project to improve flow and said intersection upgrades (planned to finish by 2030) will help ease the jams as Public Works Director Gaynelle Heart shared details on Thursday afternoon. - ➤ The City of Lynchburg announced that Jackson Street between Fourth and Fifth will be closed for a crane operation at 901 Fifth Street from Thursday, April 3 to Monday, April 14 on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—pending favorable weather, a nearby sidewalk will also be closed to pedestrians.
