- ➤ Development in Lynchburg grows as a new 7 Brew Coffee shop will host a pay-what-you-want weekend for charity beginning April 18 with a grand opening on April 28 at 3403 Candlers Mountain Rd — Qdoba Mexican Eats will open on April 21 at 4012 Wards Rd offering free bowls or burritos to the first 100 customers — the Blake and Gray Company boutique and Rhodora have moved to River Ridge to boost local retail options. - ➤ Davidsons Clothing in downtown Roanoke is being sold by its family to Lynchburg-based R. Coffee Ltd.—the acquisition will close in September and owner Larry Davidson said he will help train staff so customers continue to enjoy the same service. The News & Advance

- ➤ Lynchburg mother Karita Michelle Winston was sentenced on April 16 for the February 2023 shooting death of her 12-year-old daughter Malayshia Solomon, receiving 15 years with 2 years active behind bars and 13 years suspended while she will serve 2 years of supervised probation and her son is set to face a new trial for involuntary manslaughter. - ➤ Downtown Lynchburg Association uses new grant funding to revitalize downtown commercial properties by receiving a $70,000 capacity grant and potential access to a portion of $500,000 in funds under the Unlocking Capital on Main Street Program. The association awarded $34,515 through its Facade Improvement Grant Program to upgrade nine buildings downtown—and it still has $15,485 available as matching funds. WDBJ7
- ➤ Campbell County leaders and the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance broke ground Tuesday afternoon at Seneca Commerce Park for an $11 million industrial building spanning 100,000 square feet. The project—marked as the largest by the Campbell County Economic Development Authority in over a decade—includes plans for an additional 45,000-square-foot building and a pad-ready site to attract high-impact businesses. - ➤ After six months of heated discussion, the Pittsylvania County board voted Tuesday to deny Balico's request to withdraw its data center rezoning application without penalty—forcing the company to wait a full year before submitting a new proposal.
