Lynchburg’s Amazement Square said DOGE cuts canceled $82,000 in grant payments for the Everyone is Special and the Steam Library Makers programs, which offer inclusive arts and STEAM learning.

The museum received some funds but may cancel these initiatives if it cannot secure the remainder of the more than $200,000 originally planned — local supporters are stepping forward to help.

On April 18th at 9:18 p.m., Lynchburg Police and the Fire Department responded to a collision at the intersection of Monroe Street and Park Avenue that left a moped driver critically injured (taken to Lynchburg General Hospital) while the vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
