  • Lynchburg rail riders will see small schedule changes coming soon — the service is not being cut and riders should check the updated timetable for details.  The News & Advance
  • Motley’s Strawberry Farm is open and welcoming visitors to pick fresh, locally grown strawberries for community enjoyment. The family-run farm invites residents to try its seasonal produce (family-owned) and share in a taste of home.  WDBJ7
  • A Virginia Tech expert + a Lynchburg Police representative showed how AI creates deepfakes at the community market today and urged residents to be careful with personal photos online. The demo explained that simple headshots can be turned into misleading videos within minutes.  WSET

  • A report published yesterday links aging high school facilities to challenges in student success, prompting local education leaders to consider renovation options. Officials will review plans at upcoming board meetings.  WDBJ7

FINANCE NEWS

  • Since the April 20 merger, some customers in Lynchburg switching from MemberOne to Virginia Credit Union have reported missing debit cards, online banking delays, and long branch wait times. The credit union said updating account details by contacting a branch can quickly resolve these issues (calls now average 5 minutes).  WSLS 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new Virginia law lets animal shelters join a shared database with licensed veterinarians to provide faster care for animals amid a nationwide vet shortage, and local shelters such as Lynchburg's expect the change to improve response times, especially in rural areas.  WSLS 10
  • Centra Health and Virginia Episcopal School are seeking bonds to fund campus improvements in Lynchburg — $365M for Centra's upgrades and $25M to renovate school facilities. Their proposals go before the finance committee at 3:00 p.m. and the full council at 7:00 p.m. today.  Cardinal News
