- ➤ Riverfront Park in Lynchburg opened its long-awaited playground today after a $170,000 donation by the Kiwanis Club (which began plans in 2019 for its 100th anniversary), and the new facility features swings, a merry-go-round, climbing structures and a trampoline (designed for children of all abilities). - ➤ City Councilwoman Jacqueline Timmer said Miller Park Pool may be leveled and rebuilt at a cost over $10 million—and she wants to work with the YMCA instead of raising taxes. Vice Chair Thomas Vaughan said talks are in the early stages—and no decision has been made, but the pool will stay open to the public. WSET
