Families & friends gathered at the University of Lynchburg's 123rd commencement ceremony today despite rainy conditions, celebrating student achievements on campus.

Amherst County High School held a busy Signing Day Wednesday — with 13 student athletes signing with colleges — marking a key milestone for families and the school.
City leaders and Lynchburg City Schools started a multi-phase revitalization project at Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School that will upgrade pathways, seating, landscaping, and outdoor classrooms for students and local residents.
Improvements, including new campus signs from an AARP grant, will occur over the next several months.
The city now enforces a rule that lawns must not exceed 12 inches, and flagged properties have 10 days to trim before the city mows at the owner’s expense.
Local residents share tips to help keep lawns in line with the ordinance.
The Virginia Department of Health confirmed a measles case in a school age child in Buckingham County on Friday and now suspects community transmission; residents are urged to check their MMR vaccine status and call the Piedmont Health District at 434 969 4244 for appointments.
