Lynchburg police arrested 45-year-old Lewis Banks minutes after he stole a purse from a shopping cart in a store parking lot on the 7800 block of Timberlake Road at about 11:20 a.m.—he was charged with grand larceny and is held in Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

Local artist Cheyenne Renee is painting murals in small towns as part of her 50 in 50 project and has completed work in 17 states since starting in Covington in 2022.

She is finishing a community mural in Buena Vista and will head to Arkansas next to complete her goal of murals in all 50 states by the end of the year — a project that brings small towns together.
