GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Hall will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber to hear input on a proposal to raise the transient lodging tax from 6.5 percent to 12.5 percent and increase fees from $1 to $10 per room per night — residents can review the proposed ordinance at the Clerk’s office during normal business hours.  City of Lynchburg
  • The City of Lynchburg’s Department of Fleet Services earned national recognition by ranking #5 in NAFA's 100 Best Fleets competition for 2024 and 2025—its third consecutive year of top performance. The department also earned distinctions in Government Fleet’s Leading Fleets competition, including a #1 mid-size ranking in 2023—further highlighting its commitment to innovation and efficiency.  City of Lynchburg
  • Lynchburg Water Resources is set to work with contractor Prism today from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to repair stormwater pipes along Wards Ferry Road using trenchless liner installation—this work will close the northbound lane and shoulder between Wards Road and Simons Run and may cause minor delays.  City of Lynchburg

  • During Mental Health Awareness Month, AgriSafe supports farmers by offering the AgriStress Helpline that connects them with professionals who understand their work challenges.   • As Memorial Day weekend begins, experts say many veterans face mental health issues—like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
