  • Claude Esposito of the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department marked 50 years of service after joining in 1975 and facing his first challenging calls in Madison Heights.   • Saturday night, a hiker died and another was injured after falling near Crabtree Falls; Nelson County deputies and Wintergreen Fire and EMS rescued the injured hiker—deputies risked their lives by hiking over half a mile and using a 30-foot dog lead to reach her.  WSET

  • Lynchburg held a Memorial Day Observance on Monday at Monument Terrace where military veterans spoke about those who fought and died for the country in cool, overcast weather.
