Lynchburg Police broke up a disorderly crowd with OC spray near the El Gordo food truck (on 13th and Commerce streets) early Sunday morning after gunshots were reported on the 1300 block of Main Street and chased two persons who were later released when no firearm was found.

Lynchburg City Council is debating changes to the tax rate as it works to finalize a city budget amid rising home assessments.

Councilman Faraldi proposes increasing the real estate tax from $0.89 to $1.025 per $100 (removing the car tax) while Councilman Misjuns (an equalization supporter) warns the plan may raise costs for homeowners.
