- ➤ Local residents held a vigil on June 20 to honor a murdered woman—law enforcement continues to investigate her death. WDBJ7
- ➤ The Lynchburg Police Department reported a drop in violent and property crimes so far this year — the monthly average of crimes against people fell from about 125 to 100 and violent crimes dropped from roughly 25 to 17. - ➤ Centra is moving full steam ahead with its modernization plan in Hill City by building new facilities to centralize patient care. It is constructing a five-story building at Langhorne Medical Center for specialty clinics—set to finish later this year—and plans to open behavioral health and rehabilitation hospitals on Simons Run in 2026 while soon beginning work on a new tower for labor, delivery, and intensive care.
