- ➤ Pierre Daura—a renowned painter and art professor who arrived in Lynchburg in 1939 due to disruptions in Europe—taught at Lynchburg College and Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and his work in painting, sculpture and engraving continues to be celebrated in local museums. The News & Advance

- ➤ Today, Lynchburg City Council votes on proposals to raise the real estate tax rate and lower or eliminate the vehicle tax—steps taken after property reassessments that could add about $2 million to next fiscal year's revenues.
