- ➤ A giant waterslide will return to Lynchburg this summer from August 22 to 24 while Roanoke will host Star City Slide on June 28 and 29—both events are organized by United Way following last year's fundraiser. WSET

- ➤ On Monday, a rollover crash on Lee Jackson Highway in Boonsboro injured one person who was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries (Big Island Emergency Crew responded to the call). WSET
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Lynchburg Police Department apologized after pulling over a car that was mistakenly flagged as stolen due to a DMV error (their license plate reader linked the vehicle to a Texas theft case) and ensured that three children inside were safe (officers quickly confirmed their well-being) before releasing the driver. - ➤ Rod Camden retired after 54 years as a math teacher and track coach at E.C. Glass High School, and a ceremony on May 22 honored his long service by adding his name to the Wall of Excellence. He said he will enjoy tennis and plan a fall trip to England & Scotland. The News & Advance

- ➤ A planned public hearing in Hill City on the real estate tax rate ended abruptly when Councilman Chris Faraldi adjourned the meeting, leaving many residents upset about the proposed $1.025 rate and the elimination of the car tax. Council members later held an impromptu session where residents spoke out—now the mayor is considering an 86-cent rate and the council will review the budget on Tuesday night. WSET
