- ➤ Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity will build its first home in Bedford this Saturday and Sunday (volunteers are needed) to install walls, doors, windows, and roof plywood that keep the home safe from the weather. The house for a single mom and her child will have three bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen, and a living room, with work continuing through the summer to finish it by October. WSLS 10

- ➤ Chauncey Spencer and Dale White flew a red and cream biplane in May 1939 from Chicago to Washington to prove black pilots deserved a place in the Army Air Force—after a mechanical failure forced them to land in Ohio and seek help, their daring flight helped spark the creation of the Tuskegee Airmen. - ➤ On June 27 at 10:00 a.m., Lynchburg will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Police Headquarters at 3405 Odd Fellows Road. The modern facility consolidates three older buildings into nearly 96,000 square feet of space—featuring enhanced security, a dedicated community room, and a new real-time crime center. - ➤ Lynchburg City Council met Tuesday night to review the city budget and taxes—passing an ordinance to set a car tax of $3.00 and scheduling a special meeting on Monday, June 30 at 10 a.m. to finalize the real estate tax rate from four proposed options. WSET
