ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Buckingham woman was hit and killed on Route 20 — VSP reported an investigation into the incident is underway.  WDBJ7

CRIME NEWS

  • James McDaniel (56) was sentenced to 10 months in jail on Wednesday for a Lynchburg hit-and-run that involved nine vehicles.  The News & Advance

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Monday, the Lynchburg Visitor Center and the Lynchburg Museum on Court Street will reduce their operating hours—after a lower tax rate was approved by city council on June 30—to reflect adjustments in their funding structure.  The News & Advance
  • Councilwoman Jacqueline Timmer held a town hall meeting Tuesday night at Dan Vollmer's offices on Wiggington Road where residents submitted written questions on the budget, campaign contributions, and a newly approved housing project that allows 562 units with potential expansion to 750 under a rezoning plan. Timmer explained that the development includes developer-funded road improvements (a key concession) and she opposed a separate Wards Ferry rezoning due to traffic safety concerns (citing local issues).  The News & Advance
