Venue Cinemas in Lynchburg announced Wednesday that it will not renew its lease at the end of October and is looking for someone to buy and operate the theater—it will stay open with regular hours until then.

On Tuesday, July 8, 12 members from the Lynchburg Fire Department's Swiftwater Rescue team responded to widespread flooding in Halifax County and spent nearly 10 hours helping authorities perform wellness checks on residents whose homes were isolated by rising waters—two firefighters also aided the Virginia State Police with aerial surveillance. Officials confirmed that the team was not required to perform any rescue operations during the deployment.
