- ➤ On Tuesday, July 8, 12 members from the Lynchburg Fire Department's Swiftwater Rescue team responded to widespread flooding in Halifax County and spent nearly 10 hours helping authorities perform wellness checks on residents whose homes were isolated by rising waters—two firefighters also aided the Virginia State Police with aerial surveillance.
