- ➤ Angels of Assisi is preparing a big fundraiser that will support its community programs—details about the event timing and location will be announced soon. WDBJ7
- ➤ A new adult support center called The Village at Midtown opened today in Lynchburg to provide support and social activities for adults with disabilities. The center operates Monday through Friday from 8-2 p.m. and plans to offer live music, arts and crafts, cooking, and outings — efforts led by founder Alesia Waller to build community connections. - ➤ Smith Mountain Lake Pirate Days is set to return with pirate-themed activities near the lake—organizers have yet to release detailed schedules and attractions. WDBJ7
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Nancy Campagnino, facing charges of destruction of property, disorderly conduct, two counts of assault & battery and two driving offenses from a February 24 road rage incident on Lakeside Drive, was declared fit for trial on Monday and her preliminary hearing is set for September 4. WSET
- ➤ Convicted murderer Justin Sales, who was found guilty on June 25 of aggravated murder in a 2019 shooting that killed 92-year-old Doris Puleio and injured her 74-year-old daughter during an attempted robbery, will be sentenced on October 27. WSET
