- ➤ Framatome opened a renovated nuclear training center in Lynchburg with a $50 million upgrade to train workers before they start at power plants. Governor Glenn Youngkin attended Thursday’s ribbon cutting and the upgrade is expected to create at least 500 new local jobs—while the facility plans new tools for future small modular and advanced reactors. - ➤ Authorities reported that a homicide victim was found on a road in Lynchburg on July 17th at 5:49 p.m. and said the investigation is underway. WDBJ7

- ➤ YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge is preparing for the new school year by updating programs for children and teens. The organization said it will hold registration events soon+ plan summer camp sessions to meet growing local demand. WDBJ7
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lynchburg’s Community Access Network lost its $1.6 million Ryan White Part B grant for HIV/AIDS services and laid off seven staff when the Virginia Department of Health cut supplemental funding. The center received a renewal of Ryan White Part C funds and a new grant to open seven days starting late September and will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Aug. 8 from 3—5 p.m. while officials monitor upcoming Medicaid work requirements that could affect 3,000 local residents.
