- ➤ A new mural is being painted on the wall of Hughes Supply on Park Avenue today to boost mental health awareness with help from Horizon Behavior Health, the HYPE club, and the Suicide Prevention Awareness Coalition — community members are invited to join in painting and start conversations about support and hope. This project seeks to spread positivity and inspire local conversations about mental well-being. WSET

- ➤ E.C. Glass High School was renamed in 1920 for Edward Christian Glass and moved to a new Memorial Avenue building in 1953. Heritage High School began from a hotly contested annexation that started at Sandusky Junior High and moved to a former Brookville High School site in 1977 before dedicating a new building off Timberlake Road in October 2016—its history shows deep local roots. - ➤ Cody Beck, a Jefferson Forest student at UVA, will have heart surgery on Thursday to treat his Protein Losing Enteropathy—which forces his heart to work overtime—and he now has a match for his transplant. Doctors are monitoring his recovery as he looks forward to better health. WSET
- ➤ Carilion celebrated completing a new pediatric center in Rocky Mount and will open it at Franklin Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 28 to serve families in Franklin County. - ➤ Four-year-old Charlie Townes from Lynchburg is battling a rare neurological disorder called KCNB1 that causes frequent seizures and affects his balance — doctors have treated him since he was two and are now exploring a vagal nerve stimulator to help control the seizures.
