At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Evington fire crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on Colonial Highway where an overturned vehicle blocked both lanes, and six people were taken to a local hospital for evaluation — the incident is under investigation by Virginia State Police.

Amherst County man Frederick Wiggington was sentenced to life in prison plus three years for murdering his wife and for concealing her body—he pleaded Alford to the concealment charge on July 30.
