- ➤ A nonprofit called Pierce Street Gateway is restoring the historic Calloway Store in Lynchburg’s Black historic district and reimagining it as a museum and community center—featuring monthly farmers markets, a community garden, and walking tours—with plans for a spring opening next year. - ➤ On Monday, Lynchburg police responded at 8:24 p.m. to a stabbing in the 1300 block of Main Street that injured an adult man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds—officers are now searching for suspect Phillip Bryant, who fled on foot and faces a charge of malicious wounding. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today through Friday, milling and paving operations will occur on Smyth Street from Second Street to the end with work done from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and weather permitting. Motorists should expect minor delays — traffic is limited to one lane with flaggers on site while emergency vehicles maintain access. City of Lynchburg
- ➤ A new study by The Commonwealth Institute shows that in 2023 people left Virginia for states with both higher and lower tax rates, which means income tax rates are not driving migration. Gov.
