- ➤ The Lynchburg Humane Society received at least 10 cats needing vaccines and treatment after an owner surrendered them due to overcrowding—its medical team is examining each animal while the shelter calls for fosters, donations, and supplies like cat food. - ➤ Liberty Christian Academy announced its new athletic director on August 8—Paul Redgate, who has worked as a math teacher and coach for 11 years—and he will support the academic, athletic and spiritual growth of student-athletes. WSET
- ➤ On Friday, Altavista YMCA opened its new Early Learning Center at 1000 Franklin Avenue to care for infants and toddlers from six weeks to two years; the facility features a curriculum focused on social-emotional, language, sensory and motor skill development—covering 7,200 square feet and serving over 50 children with daily updates for families. - ➤ The Lynchburg Fire Department unveiled a new EMS supervisor vehicle with a special box addition designed to carry every vital emergency medical supply. - ➤ The Lynchburg City School Board tabled a motion to partner with Enterprise Fleet Management for a five-year plan to replace the aging vehicles used by the school division — a move intended to lower costs and boost safety.
