- ➤ Randolph College freshmen sorted nearly 20,000 pounds of potatoes for the Society of St. Andrew on Friday, August 22, delivering food to 10 local agencies (including Park View, Daily Bread, Miriam’s House, Salvation Army and God’s Storehouse) and giving leftovers to local farmers. WSET
- ➤ The Bedford County Fair opened Friday at Liberty Lake Park and runs through today with free rides, live entertainment and local food vendors—visitors are invited to drop off donations of peanut butter in 16 oz sizes and school supplies for children’s charities at the fair entrance. WSET

- ➤ A Lynchburg man pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other charges from an October 2024 home invasion that led to a high-speed chase to Lynchburg and was sentenced to 10 years and 4 months in prison at Appomattox Circuit Court—his verdict marked the closure of a lengthy legal process.
