EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jubilee Family Development Center in Lynchburg launched a one-million-dollar campaign to expand its Astronaut Leland Melvin STEM center by adding a 2,100-square-foot extension with five new classrooms—including the Mark Spain Media Center—to boost career training and digital media skills. Dr. Sterling Wilder said the expansion, which offers GED, nurse aide, PCA and cybersecurity classes, has raised about $400,000 so far and will complete fundraising by fall. WSET

A finance committee meeting at 3 p.m. and a council meeting at 7 p.m. will hold a public hearing and vote on a resolution to move forward with the $104 million Blackwater CSO Tunnel project under Blackwater Creek—meant to reduce sewer overflows.
