Glenn Youngkin cut the ribbon at Liberty University on Tuesday to start a new deal with Virginia State Police—final semester criminal justice students can attend the VSP Basic Trooper Academy to earn their degrees and law enforcement certifications. - ➤ Lynchburg officials announced Thursday that they were seeking public input on a transportation plan that will improve walking, biking, transit and driving across the city. The plan—developed by CVTPO, the City and GLTC—will use data and community feedback to guide safer access to schools, parks, transit stops and routes. WSLS 10
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Virginia Department of Health reported 23 mpox cases as of September 1 and noted 27 cases in 2024 with two deaths since the virus first appeared in 2022 — officials explained that the virus spreads through close contact and mainly affects men, and they advise vaccination for those at risk, including people with multiple partners and weakened immune systems.
