- ➤ Today, state and local buildings will lower flags at sunrise and keep them at half-staff until sunset in honor of former Delegate John Cox—who served in the House from 2010 to 2014 and passed away August 28. WDBJ7
- ➤ Beginning Wednesday, September 10, a section of Alta Lane from Wards Ferry Road to Avondale Drive will close from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays for about three weeks as contractor crews extend a sewer line — detour routes via Melinda Drive and Vista Lane will be used while local residents and emergency vehicles maintain access. City of Lynchburg
- ➤ The National Park Service said that the James River Bridge will close today for repairs that will force Blue Ridge Parkway visitors to take a five-mile detour starting at milepost 61.4 along VA route 130 and US route 501—adding a ten-minute drive compared to the usual crossing—until next fall. The work will include new asphalt, replacement of the bridge bearing and parking repairs at the James River Visitor Center. WSET
