- ➤ On September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., residents will gather at Diamond Hill Center at 1005 17th Street for the Fourth Annual Community Care Day—offering live music, dance performances, inspiring speakers, tasty food and door prizes from local businesses. Parking and shuttle services will be provided at Diamond Hill Baptist Church at 1415 Grace Street and guests are asked to wear white as a sign of unity. City of Lynchburg
- ➤ Local seniors are invited to attend the 4th Annual Senior Expo — an event where community groups will offer services and information. The expo will give seniors access to health and benefit resources in the community. WDBJ7

- ➤ High Maintenance opened its new beauty space in Downtown Lynchburg today at the former Diamond Room in the Bank of the James building — offering expert lashes, glam, and waxing — and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Owner Tiarra Diamond said she aims to make self-care accessible to all women with flexible prices. - ➤ Gross’ Orchard has changed its methods since the 1850s from using horse-drawn wagons to running a modern country store along Route 43—where co-owners Ronnie Gross and Kathy Barger serve fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade jams from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. WDBJ7

- ➤ Virginia’s changing demography is affecting housing and jobs statewide—rural areas face shortages while the Lynchburg metro attracts nearly twice as many young adults as Roanoke, boosting its economic outlook. Cardinal News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A portion of 13th Street between Filmore Street and Buchanan Street and Pierce Street between 13th and 15th Street will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the Party on Pierce Street event—motorists and emergency vehicles must follow alternate routes. - ➤ Campaign signs are appearing around Lynchburg as early voting starts Friday, September 19 and runs until November 1. Desmond Mosby with the Lynchburg Voters League said early voting makes it easier by shortening lines — allowing families and others to cast their ballots before Election Day. WSET
- ➤ The Lynchburg Board of Equalization will hold meetings at City Hall (900 Church Street) on September 23-24 and October 7-8 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to hear complaints about potential errors in property assessments and decide whether to adjust or affirm the values. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Centra is expanding autism services in Virginia as diagnoses now affect 1 in 31 children—offering counseling, speech therapy, and occupational therapy along with plans to add 24 pediatric mental health crisis beds at its future Simon’s Run site. The clinic is also launching an internship program to recruit more providers and will share its approach at the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association Behavioral Health Conference on September 25.
