- ➤ Lynchburg held a ceremony on Oct.6 to honor fallen firefighters—city leaders and community members gathered to remember their service. WDBJ7
- ➤ The City of Lynchburg opened Miller Park on October 4 with new games including four horseshoe pits, four cornhole pitches, and two pickleball courts—lighting is installed and the park stays open until 10 p.m. daily. Parks and Recreation Director Wyatt Woody threw the first horseshoe pitch as part of a community-led project—showing the new changes were planned with local input. WSLS 10
- ➤ Miriam’s House announced Monday that its building at 409 Magnolia Street will be converted into an emergency shelter for families with children facing homelessness in early 2026—offering 24/7 care, trauma-informed case management and access to basic necessities while current residents secure alternate housing. - ➤ R. S. Payne Elementary celebrated its 100th anniversary on Friday — the school has been a Lynchburg landmark since 1925 and now serves over 400 students with a special center for gifted learners.
