- ➤ Wawa will open its first store in Lynchburg on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Rosedale Development. A ribbon-cutting ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m.—the store will offer limited t-shirts to the first 200 customers and free hot coffee until Oct. 26 while planning more locations in the coming years. - ➤ State and local officials along with Southern Air employees gathered at the company’s large fabrication facility in Lynchburg to honor its milestone as the first company in Virginia to meet the highest standard in employee safety and health excellence in construction (an award that highlights its commitment to worker well-being). - ➤ The second phase of the James River Streambank Restoration project will soon begin as the Amherst County Service Authority awarded the bid — the work is planned to stabilize the river bank — and is expected to reduce erosion. The News & Advance
