- ➤ St. John's Episcopal Church will host a free Haunted Halloween Concert on Friday, October 24 at 7 p.m. that will feature an organ performance by Peggy Gaas Howell, narration by Bill Bodine, and music by both the youth and church choirs — attendees are invited to wear costumes and an offering will be taken during the event. - ➤ The Lynchburg Film Festival will be held on Oct. 25 at the Historic Academy Theatre — it will show 40 films from local and international filmmakers who are eager to share their work. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Boones Mill Fire Department has rejected an $850,000 tanker offer from Franklin County and asked for a custom tanker costing just over $1 million to meet its unique needs after its old tanker was totaled in an ice storm.
