The Salvation Army in Lynchburg will open a warming center for people without shelter at 2215 Park Avenue—funded in part by the city's Community Development Block Grant—starting Monday and operating each night until Tuesday, March 31 when evening temperatures fall below freezing.
The center will serve a hot meal at 5 p.m., start intake at 6 p.m., and close at 8 a.m. daily.
Residents are invited to send photos of their holiday lights and decorations through Pin It for a chance to have their images featured on air and online+ a Holiday Foodie Edition contest is also offering a chance to be shown on 10 News.
The city of Lynchburg finished a $22.5M project to remove the dam at College Lake and restore the stream after concerns began in August 2018.
The work improved natural water flow—boosting the area's environmental health.
