- ➤ Karis Care Services is hosting its 21st annual Christmas for Seniors program to brighten the holidays for 150 to 200 seniors in Lynchburg. Residents can adopt a senior by picking up a wish-list tag at The Olive Garden Restaurant or the Karis office on Langhorne Road (Bedford residents may also get tags at the Bedford YMCA) with gifts due by Monday, Dec. 8. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ 10 News received the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Journalism Award for Most Comprehensive Agricultural Coverage in Virginia on Wednesday night, and Rachel Lucas accepted the award on behalf of the station at the ceremony. WSLS 10
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Campbell County School District announced the sudden death of Brookville Middle School Band Director Russell Pawlas on Wednesday, Dec. 3. He joined in 2024 after 20 years at E.C. Glass and was known as a dedicated mentor in music. WSET
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lynchburg Water Resources launched Pure Pipe Lynchburg to help customers identify and replace lead water service lines at no cost. Starting this week, residents will receive mail notifications and can complete an online survey or call the hotline for guidance. City of Lynchburg
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Centra is opening the Langhorne Medical Center in Lynchburg on Dec. 8 to consolidate specialty care such as neurology, pulmonary and surgery under one roof. The center is housed in a building with five floors (130,000 sqft) and offers digital registration, online scheduling and modern equipment to streamline care. WDBJ7
