- ➤ Karis Care Services has extended its deadline for collecting gifts for seniors with trees at CMA’s Honda of Lynchburg, the Lynchburg Olive Garden, the Karis office at 2085 Langhorne Road, and the YMCA in Bedford—gifts are due by Monday, Dec. 8 to aid homebound seniors. WSET
- ➤ The Lynchburg Awareness Garden held its annual Christmas lighting event on Wednesday night where the Paul Munro Elementary children's choir sang carols and amber and colored lights decorated the garden (which raised $1.5 million to fund an expansion project) while the festive display will remain through Jan. 3. - ➤ River Ridge will bring lifestyle retailer Palmetto Moon to its shopping center in early 2026 — the store will locate beside Bath and Body Works and across from Foot Locker and Zumiez. The News & Advance

- ➤ On Thursday, crews from Public Works + VDOT and local stores readied equipment and restocked snow gear as Lynchburg prepared for early snowfall, while police advised drivers to maintain a safe distance from salt trucks and plows. WSET

- ➤ Lynchburg Main Library is preparing for a renovation project to upgrade its historic downtown space — officials report planning is underway and updates on library operations will soon be provided. WDBJ7
- ➤ City officials announced that the Blackwater CSO Tunnel is halfway complete as it stores extra water during storms to keep Lynchburg's waterways safe. The nearly one-mile tunnel will be finished in summer 2027 and will lower sewer overflows from six to two. WSET
- ➤ Residents with lead, galvanized, or unknown service lines have been asked to complete a survey as Lynchburg Water Resources reevaluates its Pure Pipe Initiative to offer free service line identification & replacement, aiming to upgrade all drinking water pipes by 2037. WSET

- ➤ Centra held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday at the new Langhorne Medical Center, a five-story 130,000 sqft facility located at the corner of Langhorne Road + Tate Springs Road near Lynchburg General Hospital.
