  • A nonprofit called Pierce Street Gateway is restoring the historic Calloway Store in Lynchburg’s Black historic district and reimagining it as a museum and community center—featuring monthly farmers markets, a community garden, and walking tours—with plans for a spring opening next year. The project builds on decades of local preservation work and honors the neighborhood’s legacy of Black achievement, aiming to bring history and healthy food together for residents.  Cardinal News

  • Business leaders in Lynchburg met with Cathie Vick of the Virginia Chamber to review local challenges including government regulation, childcare access, community college funding, and veteran services — Vick said she would work on state-level solutions as the state looks to improve its business ranking. CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, Lynchburg police responded at 8:24 p.m. to a stabbing in the 1300 block of Main Street that injured an adult man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds—officers are now searching for suspect Phillip Bryant, who fled on foot and faces a charge of malicious wounding.  WSET
  • Lynchburg police said a man was injured with non-life-threatening stab wounds to his arm on the 1300 block of Main Street Monday night at 8:24 p.m. and he was treated at a hospital while officers sought the suspect, Phillip Bryant, who fled on foot.  WSLS 10

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today through Friday, milling and paving operations will occur on Smyth Street from Second Street to the end with work done from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and weather permitting. Motorists should expect minor delays — traffic is limited to one lane with flaggers on site while emergency vehicles maintain access.  City of Lynchburg
  • A new study by The Commonwealth Institute shows that in 2023 people left Virginia for states with both higher and lower tax rates, which means income tax rates are not driving migration. Gov. Youngkin had argued that tax cuts would keep residents & jobs in Virginia, but the study does not back that claim.  Cardinal News
