Rhodorable, a new toy store at River Ridge, opened its doors Friday to offer retro—style toys in a relaxed setting for parents seeking gifts for their children.

The store will host a reading hour on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—parents can use a coffee receipt from Mission House to get 15% off their purchase.

The Virginia State Police issued a critically missing alert for 20-year-old David Wayne Henry from Lynchburg — a white man with blue eyes and blond hair who is 5'6 and weighs 136 pounds — after he was last seen walking on Leesville Road on August 15 at 4 a.m.

Lynchburg City Schools announced it will provide free breakfast and lunch each school day for all students under the Community Eligibility Provision this upcoming school year.

Families do not need to apply for the meals.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced over $65,000 in youth literacy grants statewide, including a $4,000 award to Sheffield Elementary School in Lynchburg to fund books, technology, and other learning materials—part of a nationwide initiative totaling over $3.5 million. Applications for the next grant cycle will open in January 2026.
